Guardia Civil physical tests: all four with a margin, with the marks for your age

C1 circuit, push-ups, 2,000 metres and a 50 metre swim: pass or fail, and failing one is enough. The plan trains all four to the board's standard and with the marks for your sex and your age bracket on exam day.

What are the Guardia Civil physical tests?

The physical tests for the Guardia Civil, Corporals and Guards (Spain's military-status police force) are four: agility and coordination circuit (C1), push-ups, a 2,000 m run and a 50 m swim. The marks are those of the latest call (Resolution 160/38243/2026 of 5 May, BOE no. 112, appendix II), which takes the tests from Order PCI/362/2019 and the C1 circuit from Order PCM/286/2023.

They are graded pass or fail, and each test is a door: if you fail one, you are out there and then. What makes them particular is that the mark depends on your sex and your age bracket on test day: under 35, 35 to 39, and 40 or over. For under 35 the marks are:

  • 2,000 m: 9:25 for men and 11:14 for women.
  • C1 circuit: 14.0 s for men and 16.0 s for women.
  • Push-ups: 16 for men and 11 for women.
  • 50 m swim: 1:10 for men and 1:21 for women.

The C1 circuit has the same layout as the National Police one (two hurdles 6 metres apart and two posts 3 metres apart in between), but you may start on either side of the first hurdle: if you start on the left, you run the diagram mirrored. Time stops when you land after clearing the last hurdle, and it is void if you change the route or knock over or move any element. There are two attempts, with recovery in between, if the first is void or misses the mark.

The push-ups go chin to the floor: hands shoulder-width apart, arms perpendicular to the floor, and a rep counts when the chin touches the floor (or a pad of 6 cm at most) and you push back up. Head, shoulders, back and legs in line throughout; only the chin, hands and toes touch the floor. One rest is allowed at the top, without moving. Two attempts, spaced to recover.

The swim is freestyle and you may not touch the lane ropes or lane markers, except as needed to turn. The board decides the order and may run several tests at once. And something worth knowing now: the same marks are also required during the academy.

The tests for Guardia Civil · Corporals and Guards

Pass or fail: you must beat all four marks for your age bracket. Fail one and you are out on the spot.

Order: The board sets the order and may run several at once. The mock test uses an order that gets you to the run in one piece.

How the plan works

Your AI-generated plan

You choose the Guardia Civil, your sex, your date of birth, the exam date if you know it, your marks and your level in the water: whether you can't swim, can just about swim or already do sets. The app works out your age bracket on exam day (if you turn 35 before it, it knows) and tells you which tests you pass today, which are close and which you are short of.

A five-day week has two swim days, a circuit day, an interval day for the 2,000 m and a threshold run, with the push-ups spread over several sessions; with four days, the threshold run goes. The work is split by risk: whatever is a fail comes first, then whatever is close, and anything comfortable is maintained.

Push-ups, from your step: if you do fewer than five to the standard, push-ups with your hands on a bench and negatives; from five, chin-to-the-floor sets at 60% of your max; from thirteen, weighted push-ups with a backpack as well; and from twenty-six, one set every minute for six to eight minutes. At the end of each peak week, one max set to measure.

The water, from your real level: if you can't swim, breathing, kickboard kicks and front crawl in 25 metre stretches; if you can just about swim, crawl technique and 50 m repeats; and if you already swim, an easy continuous swim, 25 and 50 m repeats at your target time, and turns touching the wall.

The C1 circuit, in parts (under the hurdle, turn at the post) and in full flat out, with the BOE diagram to scale. Every five weeks, a mock test with the four tests in an order that lets you reach the run in one piece, and in exam week, the taper.

From today to the exam, week by week

With the exam date, the plan counts backwards: base, development, exam pace and taper. Every five weeks, a deload with a mock test under the official protocol.

Mock test· Exam

  • Base: learn the tests and build the engine. Easy runs and aerobic intervals, the circuit in parts, and bar or push-up progressions from your rung.
  • Development: aerobic power and speed. Long intervals at 3K pace, the full circuit flat out and more reps to the board's standard.
  • Specific: exam pace. Intervals at your target pace, the circuit under exam conditions and bar sets like the board's.
  • Taper. Less volume, same intensity: arrive fresh without losing the edge.
  • Exam week. Short activation, rest the day before and everything ready for test day.

Without an exam date, the plan moves through base, development and exam pace, with a mock test every five weeks, and reshuffles the phases as soon as you set the date.

Who is this plan for?

  • Corporal and Guard candidates of any age: if you are 35 or over, your marks are those of your bracket and the plan uses them from day one.

  • Those who can't swim or swim poorly: the swim is the test that needs the most time if you start from zero. The plan starts with breathing in the water and the panel shows you the mark it predicts for exam day if you follow the plan.

  • Those who failed on a single test before: the plan puts it at the centre and maintains the other three, which you also have to pass on the day.

  • Those who want a margin for the academy: they ask for the same marks there, so a scraped pass is not enough.

Equipment needed

EntrenAI automatically substitutes any exercise if you don’t have the gear.

  • A track or a measured 400 m loop for the 2,000 m intervals
  • Two hurdles or two chairs with a broomstick at 65 and 72 cm, and two cones for the C1 circuit
  • A pad or a folded towel of 6 cm at most for the push-ups
  • A 25 m pool, goggles and a cap; a kickboard if you are starting from zero
  • A weighted backpack for weighted push-ups, when you reach that step
  • The stopwatch on your phone
Common mistakes

What most people get wrong (and how to avoid it)

  1. 1

Looking only at the under-35 marks

Your mark is the one for your age bracket on test day. If you turn 35 before the exam, your marks are those of the 35 to 39 bracket. The app works out your bracket from your date of birth and the exam date.

  2. 2

Counting push-ups that don't reach the floor

A rep counts when the chin touches the floor (or the 6 cm pad) and you push back up, with your body in line. Reps that stop halfway or bend at the hips don't count, and at home it is very easy to get used to them.

  3. 3

Leaving the swim for the last month

If you didn't swim as a child, getting under 1:10 or 1:21 for 50 metres takes months: learning to breathe, to keep your legs up and to turn. The plan brings in the water from the first week.

  4. 4

Holding the lane rope at the turn

You may only touch what is needed to turn. A turn holding the edge or the lane rope can cost you the test; the plan trains it touching the wall and pushing off.

  5. 5

Reaching the 2,000 m with circuit legs

The board decides the order and may group tests together. The mock test teaches you to reach the run with what the circuit and push-ups leave you, which is not the same as running it fresh.

  6. 6

    Thinking passing is the end

At the academy they require the same marks. Getting in with a margin means getting in calm.

Frequently asked questions

They depend on sex and age bracket. For under 35: 2,000 m in 9:25 (men) or 11:14 (women), C1 circuit in 14.0 or 16.0 s, 16 or 11 push-ups and a 50 m swim in 1:10 or 1:21. From 35 to 39 and from 40 the marks are more accessible; the full table is on this page.

In the circuit, two, with recovery in between, if the first is void or misses the mark. In the push-ups, two, spaced to recover. In the 2,000 m and the swim, one.

Yes, one rest, in the top position and without moving. Nothing may touch the floor except the chin, hands and toes.

The board decides, and it may run several at once. That is why the plan's mock test makes you run the 2,000 m after the circuit and the push-ups: if you pass it like that, you pass it.

Your age on test day. The app works it out from your date of birth and the exam date, and switches the marks on its own if you change bracket.

An official medical certificate issued in the previous 20 days, with the exact wording the call asks for. The medical check is done fasting and with urine retention, with a BMI between 17 and 30 (higher is accepted if it is muscle mass).
