Spanish Customs Surveillance physical tests: speed, jump and water, all four with a margin

50 metre sprint, 800 metres, running long jump and 50 metre freestyle with a dive. Each one is eliminatory. The plan trains the speed, the take-off and the dive, which are the ones people train least on their own.

What are the Customs Surveillance physical tests?

The physical tests for the Customs Surveillance Service agents (Servicio de Vigilancia Aduanera, the customs enforcement branch of Spain's Tax Agency) are the second exercise of the exam, and are set out in the latest call (Resolution of 22 December 2025). There are four, and each one is eliminatory:

  • 50 m sprint: 8.00 s for men and 9.60 s for women. Standing start and two attempts.
  • 800 m: 3:00 for men and 3:53 for women, on a smooth, flat, hard surface. One attempt.
  • Running long jump: 3.42 m for men and 2.85 m for women. Two attempts, with one minute to take each. Measured from the board to the nearest mark you leave.
  • 50 m freestyle with a dive: 50 s for men and 1:00 for women. Freestyle, without stopping, and a diving start from the edge. One attempt.

It is a combination unlike any other corps: two speed and power tests (the 50 m and the jump), one of high-pace endurance (the 800 m) and one in the water with a head-first start. The board may change the order and split them over several sessions. Maritime places reserved for enlisted military personnel are exempt from this exercise.

How the plan works

Your AI-generated plan

You choose Customs Surveillance, your sex, the date and your marks, and your level in the water. The app tells you which tests you pass today, which are close and which you are short of, and splits the work by risk.

A four-day week has strength, a swim, a speed and jump day and an interval day for the 800 m. The speed and jump day starts with running drills and falling starts, moves on to flat-out 50 m reps with full rest, and ends with the six-step take-off run-up, full long jumps and bounding. The take-off and the run-up are rehearsed until they come out the same every time, so you don't lose centimetres or attempts at the board.

The 800 m is trained with intervals at your target pace, which in this test is close to speed: 3:00 means 45 seconds every 200 metres. The water, from your level, with the dive in every session once you can swim: a streamlined entry through a single hole and a glide before you start swimming, which over 50 metres is worth seconds.

Every five weeks, a mock test with all four tests and, in exam week, the taper.

From today to the exam, week by week

With the exam date, the plan counts backwards: base, development, exam pace and taper. Every five weeks, a deload with a mock test under the official protocol.

Mock test· Exam

  • Base: learn the tests and build the engine. Easy runs and aerobic intervals, the circuit in parts, and bar or push-up progressions from your rung.
  • Development: aerobic power and speed. Long intervals at 3K pace, the full circuit flat out and more reps to the board's standard.
  • Specific: exam pace. Intervals at your target pace, the circuit under exam conditions and bar sets like the board's.
  • Taper. Less volume, same intensity: arrive fresh without losing the edge.
  • Exam week. Short activation, rest the day before and everything ready for test day.

Without an exam date, the plan moves through base, development and exam pace, with a mock test every five weeks, and reshuffles the phases as soon as you set the date.

Who is this plan for?

  • Customs Surveillance agent candidates, with or without marks: the first week brings an initial assessment.

  • Those who come from distance running: the 800 m suits them but the 50 m and the jump don't. The plan adds speed and power without taking away endurance.

  • Those who have never done a long jump: the take-off, the run-up and the landing are learned in parts before jumping in full.

  • Those who swim but don't dive: the dive is trained at the start of every swim session, with its diagram of how to enter streamlined and glide.

Equipment needed

EntrenAI automatically substitutes any exercise if you don’t have the gear.

  • An athletics track with a sand pit for the long jump and the 50 m and 800 m reps
  • A 25 m pool where diving from the edge is allowed
  • Well-fitting goggles: they shift on a dive if they are loose
  • The stopwatch on your phone and someone to measure the jump from the board
Common mistakes

What most people get wrong (and how to avoid it)

  1. 1

Changing the run-up on every jump

If you start each attempt from a different spot, the take-off lands where it should only by luck. The plan fixes your run-up (8 to 12 strides, always the same) and rehearses it until your foot hits the board without looking.

  2. 2

    Braking before the board

The take-off happens at speed: braking to avoid overstepping costs a lot of distance. It is measured from the board, so every centimetre you take off early is lost.

  3. 3

Running the 800 m like a distance race

Three minutes for a man means 45 seconds every 200 metres from the start. Easy runs won't get you there: you need intervals at the target pace.

  4. 4

Leaving the dive for exam day

A flat entry or goggles knocked out of place cost seconds that can't be recovered over 50 metres. You need to dive many times before the exam.

  5. 5

Training the 50 m without full rest

50 m sprints with short rests train something else. To run faster, every rep flat out and full rest between them.

Frequently asked questions

Four, all eliminatory: 50 m sprint, 800 m, running long jump and 50 m freestyle with a dive. They are the second exercise of the agent exam.

Men: 8.00 s in the 50 m, 3:00 in the 800 m, 3.42 m in the jump and 50 s in the swim. Women: 9.60 s, 3:53, 2.85 m and 1:00.

Two in the 50 m and the jump (with one minute for each jump), and one in the 800 m and the swim.

From the take-off board to the nearest mark you leave in the sand. That is why you should land feet first and not put your hands down behind you.

An official medical certificate issued in the previous 15 days, on the form in annex III of the call.

Yes: Maritime places reserved for enlisted military personnel are exempt from this second exercise.
