Hevy alternatives: when you want a plan, not just a logbook

Hevy is a gym workout logbook with a social side, very complete for logging sets, routines and progress. If you want the same but with a plan that generates and adjusts itself, the alternatives are Alpha Progression, Fitbod or EntrenAI; if you only want to log, Hevy or Strong are hard to beat.

What Hevy is

According to its official website (checked on October 19, 2026), Hevy is a free workout logbook for iOS and Android. It lets you build routines, mark warm-up, drop and failure sets, use automatic rest timers and keep notes. It shows charts per exercise, personal records, a 1RM calculator, exercise videos and your full history, supports custom exercises and has a social side (follow others, like, comment and save their routines). There is a web version and Apple Watch and Wear OS apps that work offline, and a separate product, Hevy Coach, for personal trainers.

What to look for in an alternative

  • Only log or also plan? Hevy logs what you decide.
  • Do you want the plan to adjust to your day?
  • Do you train more than gym?
  • A watch app? Hevy has Apple Watch and Wear OS apps.

Alternatives

  • Alpha Progression: free logging and generated plans in Pro.
  • Fitbod: the day's session from your equipment and what you have worked.
  • Strong and Jefit: other logbooks.
  • EntrenAI: besides free workout logging, a plan for 12 sports with a daily sleep, stress and fatigue adjustment; the comparison with Hevy details it.

When NOT to pick EntrenAI

  • If you already have your routine and only want a polished logbook, with a social side and watch apps: Hevy.
  • If you need a watch app: EntrenAI does not have one.
  • EntrenAI launched in May 2026.

When to pick it

If what you lack is someone deciding what to train tomorrow and adjusting when your week changes, maybe in more than one sport.
